We Called Her Lovingly "Lady Tee"

Teena MarieIt was in the late 70's when I met this young and ambitious soon to be a superstar call "Lady Tee" Teena, who presented a warm and loving smile and a contagious laugh. America fell in love with Teena the affectionately called the Ivory Queen of Soul when she debuted on Rick James Wild and Peaceful album. That collaboration between James and Marie launched her career for many years to come.
Her hits included hits like Square Biz, Behind The Groove, Lovergirl, Ooo La La La, I Need Your Lovin, and my favorites Fire and Desire, and Dear Lover.

In 1979, Rick James produced a number of albums for Motown's new artist.  Wild And Peaceful, containing great hits, I'm Just A Sucker For Your Love, which made them a musical team.  Teena produced a number of hits, Irons In the Fire, Behind The Groove, I Need Your Lovin' produced by Richard Rudolph husband of the late Minnie Riperton.

We reunited once again in 1995, when Teena graced Ted Terry's Music Menu with her presence, we had a wonderful time sharing stories, and chatting with the radio audience. It was a priceless time for me see the young girl blossom into a beautiful woman. I miss her infectious smile. Her untimely passing was too soon.   Mary Christine Brockert "Teena Marie" Died on December 26, 2010.
